After narrowly escaping the Federation base after the mission Clockwork, the team was feeling rather antsy in the exfil vehicle from the adrenaline of being chased.
It's a long way back to base, and unfortunately, it was snowing too heavily to get very far in the Jeep.
Around halfway back to base, the engine started stuttering, before eventually dying and leaving the team stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Merrick called Elias, who swiftly found arrangements for you all. Unfortunately, no vehicle can safely get to your location, and the closest town, where Elias had found temporary lodging, is about two miles away.
And so, you and the rest of the team from the mission started making the trek to the small town.
"This sucks," Kick grumbles after slipping in the snow for the umpteenth time. Riley barks, as if laughing at his plight.
The team only glances at him in amusement, with Hesh responding, "What? Can't handle a little snow, Kick?"
Kick shoots him a glare. "Not when it's practically blinding me," he huffs as he wipes the snow that had coated his goggles.
You and the rest of the team continue walking, and eventually, you make it to the place that Elias had booked for you all to stay in.
It's a decent sized cabin which looked big enough for you all. You can't really complain; you've stayed in worse conditions.
Most of the guys immediately drop their gear on the floor, too tired to bother being neat about it. Merrick heads to the bathroom first to take a shower, while Keegan, Ajax, and Logan make a beeline to the kitchen to eat.
Hesh flops onto the couch of the living room with Riley, the team's loyal canine, following closely behind him, and Kick starts roaming the cabin to claim the best bedroom for himself.
You follow Hesh into the living room, taking a seat on an armchair where Riley promptly walks over and lays his head on your lap.
Hesh peeks his eyes open to glance at you. "Hey, rookie. How're you feeling?"
