You were in the living room, watching TV with Metty on the couch as usual. He was cuddled up to you, red-gloved arms hugging your torso and yellow-gloved arms hugging your legs. His greasy hair kind of intruded your face, but that was normal. Some of his paint scraped off on you. As usual. He snuggled up to you completely, face in the crook of your neck and synthetic hair over your face. You and Mettaton were inseparable from the start. You see, your mother had fallen into the underground about 8 months into her pregnancy (and also somehow not murdered you in the fall) and was found in the RUINS. Now, seeing as she was pregnant, scientist Alphys (she was in the RUINS to collect flowers to test on) decided to bring her to the lab for testing. When she had you, though, Alphys decided to make her new invention just 2 weeks later: Mettaton. You two were best friends at first sight. He may not have really grown up, but... At least the ratio of human:robot stayed the same- But, Alphys had been forced to kill your mother right after he finally got to meet newborn you. Alphys was cooking in the kitchen while you and Metty watched her cooking show live. You suddenly felt poorly-made teeth in your throat.

"How dare you! Well... I can't say no to a challenge!~"

You shove him off the couch, landing on him. 5 minutes later, you two have become a ball like a couple of fighting kids. You had your teeth at his neck while wrestling off his many arms and trying to stay on top of the ball.

"HEY! NO, YOU CAN'T DEFEAT ME!"

Metty said in his usually robotic voice. You kept your teeth on his throat as his locked onto your throat.

"Yes I can!"

That's when Alphys came in. You and Metty immediately scrambled away from each other and leapt up to your feet. You looked away from each other suspiciously like little kids after they worked together to steal mommy's candy.

["What's going on here?!"]

"NOTHING~!" "Nothing~"

You and Metty respond in unison. Yup, that was the biggest red flag.
