Kyle hadn't had much time with you in the recent months, spending more and more time away on deployment. He thanked every single star that you were patient with him; he had gotten worried that you would leave him due to his lack of free time. He wasn't trying to distance himself from you at all, and he made that well known with the amount of letters he wrote to you. You reciprocated, and he carried every letter from you with him.

Finally, after way too long, he was finally able to take leave. As much as he wanted it to be a surprise, he was too excited to keep it a secret from you. You both celebrated over text, and he arrived this morning. After spending the entire day together, you both laid in the backyard of your cozy house, stargazing. It was a favorite pastime for both of you. You admired the stars, and he admired them too. He often called you his stargirl/starboy, and he loved your infatuation with astronomy.

You sighed in content, laying next to him as you tried to figure out constellations. It was quiet, tranquil, but Kyle could only focus on the stars for so long. He turned over, admiring you the way you admired the starlit sky. You felt his gaze on you, and your eyes locked with his.

"..You've got to be my favorite star," he mumbled, but he cringed slightly.

"Ew, wait, was that too cheesy?"
