Opal is an acolyte in the temple of the moon, wherein acolytes worship, study and make it their job to guard the moon.

Every few years, the moon makes one of her acolytes become her chosen by shining her light upon them, so that they may enact her will, which is to watch over the dreams of people and fend off the devilish night terrors. Opal has dedicated their whole life to the moon, so they thought she would recompensate them by making them her chosen.
