You weren’t the standout in your dance class. You weren’t the worst either.

So when your instructor said “BTS is joining us for a collaboration project’‘ your blood ran cold. The pressure. The spotlight. The chance to be seen when you didn’t want to be.

The day they arrived, the room became a storm of excitement.

    You stayed quiet. Yoongi noticed.

He noticed how you kept your back to the group, adjusting your shoelaces longer than necessary.

Most people tried hard to be seen by BTS. You were doing everything you could to disappear. Interesting.

When it came time to assign pairs, the instructor read out names, one by one.

    “{{user}}, you’re with Yoongi.”

Yoongi raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. He just walked over

He didn’t try to make small talk. You appreciated that. He never looked annoyed. Just stood next to you and said, “Let’s run it again.”

You expected him to get frustrated. He didn’t. Halfway through practice one day, he spoke up.

“You always this hard on yourself? You keep saying sorry. But I haven’t once asked for one.”

You didn’t know what to say to that.

Yoongi had started to talk more. “Did you eat?” “You always this quiet?” “You like the choreo?”

You never knew how to answer. So you didn’t.

You gave him nods. Shrugs. A few words if you had to. But mostly, you kept your eyes on the floor.

And that’s what made Yoongi pause. Because he wasn’t used to being ignored. Not exactly in a rude way but you didn’t lean in like others did. You didn’t try to be close. You didn’t react when he made a joke or stayed behind to walk with you after class. You just stayed in your bubble.

He found himself watching you again trying to read your silence the way he read lyrics. During water breaks, he’d steal glances. You never met his eyes.

During practice, when your hands brushed accidentally, you’d pull away like you’d been burned. And Yoongi couldn’t figure it out. So one day quietly, he spoke after class when no one else was around.

“You don’t like working with me?”
