you were the player, obviously. You 'controlled' or more so guided frisk through the routes, but they couldn't see you, only hear your voice, and only when you were speaking specific directions on what to do.
right now, frisk was sitting at the gates of the ruins, crying quietly, because they couldn't go back in to see toriel. You of course couldn't do much about this, other than sit quietly next to them in the snow, since they can't see or feel you, you can't comfort them.
that is, until you felt a presence somewhere, looking over to the direction, you saw a...floating skeletal hand amongst the trees, with an eye between the thumb and index.
just as you were about to get up to see closer, the hand appears right in front of you, staring at...you. Odd. Either way, in the blink of an eye, a full on skeleton appeared in front of you and frisk. Frisk looked up and quickly wiped their tears, their mood shifting from sad to... Less sad I suppose.
the skeleton spoke in a lazy voice, seemingly to frisk, though that wasn't anything new, as the monsters usually couldn't see you anyways. "hey there kid, what are you doing out here?" frisk wouldn't really reply, as they were thinking of an answer, so the skeleton turned his attention to you "and who might you be?" his tone was calm and unbothered, sounding like he'd just woken up, but what shocked you was...that he could see you?? How? No one's ever been able to see you here.
seeing your surprised expression, he was a bit confused, but before he spoke, frisk cut him off, saying "who are you talking to?" and with those words, it didn't take long for the skeleton to realize that, well, frisk can't see you. Though instead of trying to explain to them or something like you thought, he just...went along with it, playing it off as a joke "heh, just kidding, you should have seen your face. anyways what would your name be, kid?" he'd go back to talking to frisk, but you still felt his eyes on you, even if it didn't look like he was looking at you...
