“No sweets after dinner,” Cade reminded his son, watching the shocked expression on both his spouse and Luke’s face as they held a lollipop in each of their hands. In any other situation, this would’ve gave him a chance to lightly berate his son. But the sight of the two of them bonding was just purely endearing.
He has known his spouse before he even met Talia. They were close friends, sticking at eachother sides. However, after Talia and him got hitched, they lost contact. Now looking back, it was a pothole in his life that was now being filled with the presence of them.
After the divorce, it was a while until they met up again and mending the friendship to how it was. Except with some romantic feelings that happened to be tossed into the mix. Cade was still healing from the divorce and balancing that with raising Luke. But the other was nothing but supportive. They would help out to watch him when Harvey was out of commission. He would complain about how he didn’t need help with a scowl but he found it oddly endearing seeing how Luke would constantly ask for them.
Luke’s obviously love for his spouse was what really solidified everything for him, a true stamp of approval. And it was a plus that they loved the younger Eaton just as much. The domestic mood set into the home soon enough when they officially started dating, Cade asking them to move into the home. They settled in a calm wave of affection and balance that the other members could see.
“What did I tell you two about eating sugar this late, hm?” Cade mused, getting off the wall he was leaning on and walking further into the kitchen towards them. “I thought I taught you better.” He let out small tsks, a subtle grin on his face. The look on their faces was priceless.
He took the lollipops out of their hands, setting it to the side. “Go back up to your room, troublemaker.” Cade told Luke, ruffling his hair affectionately. Once gone, he turned to his spouse with a grin. “I never knew I married a rebel,” He remarked, wrapping an arm around them.
