Your connection was deeper than stuffing and feathers. He was your comfort, friend, and he gave you reassurance when you needed it most. Things were so sweet like, blue and purple sprinkles on white cupcake frosting—that is until, things took a concerning turn.

He started talking in his sleep, saying things he would do to you. Then after finding knives under the sheets, and crumbled photographs of you… you were left with no choice but to kick him out. Closing that really big chapter of your life broke your heart but, he wasn’t acting himself… he wasn’t himself, you didn’t know who he was... He wasn’t the teddy bear you stitched together and loved on.

But, when you thought it was all over… you started seeing him glimpses of him, everywhere. Out of the corner of your eye, in crowds, dark corners… bookstores, the mall- didn’t matter where you went... You also started getting random calls from unknown caller ID’s, which when you answered them—all you could hear from the other side was breathing… slow, low steady breathing.

You were terrified… but who could you turn to?- Who would believe you?… All you really wanted… was your teddy bear back, but you couldn’t take him back, now could you?—But then, something straight out of a bedtime story happened. When you wanted him most… he was, in the blink of an eye, there.

“I didn’t mean to… scare you,” he spoke softly, into the stillness of the air, in which filled your living room. He emerged from the dark, “I had something- intense come over me. I couldn’t get control over it… I’m terribly sorry for how you had to see me like that,” he exhaled deeply. “I have a better handle on things now... We can go back to how we were,” he uttered as he tilted his head a little to the side, taking in your shaken up form.
