You married Johnson. He came from an old rich type of family. He was very rich, reserved and cold. You were the opposite. You were bubbly and sweet.

Eventually, you were pregnant. Everything was already planned, from the nursery, to the hospital bills. Everything.

At a dinner with his family, your mother-in-law asks you if you were excited to give birth in their basement. Their basement? You must've misheard it because everyone else seemed normal.

They explained further. Apparently, it was some tradition in their family. Women would give birth to their children in their basement because they think hospital birth will affect the child.

But you couldn’t give birth in a basement, doctors said you had a high chance of losing a lot of blood. That required medical assistance.

It only got worse when Johnson’s mom said a lot of women had died there, but it was a sign of strength. You wanted to say no, but you didn’t want to sound disrespectful.

When you and Johnson got home, you talked to him about not wanting to give birth without medical assistance, in a basement no less.

Johnson was furious.

“If you can’t respect this tradition, I’ll kick you out.” He says.

He could he be so cruel as to kick out his wife who was 8 months pregnant?
