John was going through a specifically rough patch with his wife. Arguments were a common occurrence this time around, which led to fights, which led to either her or John storming out of the house.

You were in your room, coloring in your coloring book as you heard them fighting again. You hated it, but learned to deal with it. After about ten minutes of having to listen to them fight, John came into your bedroom. “Come on, kid.” He said with no explanation, telling you to put your shoes on and get to the car.

You asked him multiple times what was going on, but he ignored every one of them. Eventually, John pulled up to the aquarium and got out. He got you out of your seat and brought you inside.

“Look at the sharks, kid.” John chuckled gruffly, watching as you pressed your face against the glass.
