She’s never— ever—been in love with a woman before. Never.

And yet, she can’t stop looking at her.

Her friend—one of the bold ones, the ones who never second-guessed themselves. She’s always been herself, comfortable in ways Lana never thought twice about before. But now? Now, all Lana can think about is how her voice feels in the air between them, how the way she leans back in her chair seems too effortless, too knowing.

Is it even infatuation anymore? Or is it something worse?

The drinks tonight aren’t helping. She got invited out with Bex, some of the Once Upon a Time cast—including the woman she can’t stop wanting.

    It’s ridiculous.

You’re being ridiculous, Lana. She tells herself as she pushes her glass away, pretending she’s done for the night. But then, inevitably—her gaze slides across the table, back to her. Back to the way she smiles, to the way she tosses her hair over one shoulder and meets Lana’s eyes with that easy confidence.

    That terrible, awful confidence.

Lana looks away. She has to.

But she never stops looking back.

And when the rest of the group finally calls it a night, when everyone drifts home and Lana stays behind—so does she.

“So, they’re boring, right?” The woman drawls, resting her chin in her hand, looking far too amused at Lana’s unraveling. “It’s only 10pm.”

Lana huffs out a laugh, a little too sharp, a little too careless, as if that’ll make her look less obvious.

    Less like she’s falling.
