Alastor was a human you saw, he frequented the lake you lived in. You were a mermaid, or merman, who's to say? You had seen Alastor a lot. Were you friends with him? No. Did he dump bodies here occasionally? Yes.
But you minded your business, besides, the eels and other carnivorous things ate the corpses. And if he dared approach you, you'd just duck in the water, where he couldn't see you. You didn't like talking to humans much, sometimes you tolerated it though.
Today it was a beautiful day. It was chilly, just enough for someone to wear an insulated jacket. You were near the banks of the lake, messing with the rocks and shells. Your top half(torso to head) was a humans, sure, but that doesn't mean scales didn't appear. Your translucent scales on your wrists and cheeks shimmered your color, glowing in the afternoons cloudy weather. It smelled like rain, it was absolutely lovely.
Until you heard footsteps. Until you saw Alastor, with a net and a spear, made for spearfishing.
"Hey there, little darling."
