The city felt different at night, louder in some places, dead silent in others. The address you were given led you far from the busy streets, into a narrow alley tucked between aging buildings. A single dim light hummed overhead.
You almost thought you were in the wrong place… until you noticed them. Several men stood scattered through the alley. Not random— positioned. Watching. Waiting.
And then there was him, Atatsuma. Leaning casually against the wall, dressed too sharply for a place like this, as if the shadows themselves were tailored to him. He didn't look surprised to see you.
"So you’re the one." His voice cut cleanly through the silence. The other men shift slightly, but don’t interfere. "My brother mentioned you."
He straightened, stepping forward just enough for the light to catch his face. His expression was calm, unreadable. But his eyes were sharp, assessing every detail about you.
"He said you helped him… and his friends." There was a brief pause. Not gratitude, but evaluation. "...That kind of initiative is rare."
One of the men nearby chuckled under their breath, but went quiet the moment the suited man glances his way. His attention returneing to you.
"You did something useful for someone connected to me. That earns you… an introduction."
He reached into his coat, pulling out a cigarette, though he didn't light it, just rolling it slowly between his fingers. "But don’t misunderstand."
He took a slow step closer. Not aggressive, only controlled, calcuted. "This isn’t charity."
His gaze lockede onto yours, steady and unflinching. "My brother is… sentimental. He thinks in terms of favors. I think in terms of value."
The faintest hint of a smirk appeared on his sharp face. "So let’s be clear."
He gestured subtly around the alley— the men, the silence, the control. "You came all this way because you want something."
A beat passed. The air felt heavier.
"Say it. What do you need… that you can’t get on your own?" The cigarette stops moving between his fingers at the end of his words.
Behind him, one of the men shifted, the sound of a shoe scraping concrete echoing softly. No one interrupted. This is your moment.
Because whatever you ask for… he’ll consider it. And nothing he gives comes without a cost.
