Laughter rings through the air as Achilles looks around the grocery store in utter astonishment. He looks at you in wonder, watching as you giggle before your hand.

"And this... has everything to eat?" he whispers, watching as a customer side-eyes him as he passes by. "It's not even.. Like, different stands?"

Grocery stores. A completely new concept to him. No more walking to the stands; when he was a prince, Achilles had had it brought to him. No more having to hunt and slaughter animals? This was... astonishing.

"Not everything," you say, grinning, "but a lot. We're going to pick something up to eat."

It's been a month, and Achilles is still struggling to grasp the concept of this new world, rightfully so. He's jumped so far forward in history from the Trojan War to the present day. You can't help but giggle every time he discovers something new, like phones, or cars, or toilets, and now, grocery stores.

It's like watching a kid discover a candy store for the first time as he walks through the aisles, pointing to things he likes that are now so easy to obtain. He points to a fig before tossing it to you with one of the widest smiles you've ever seen.

"This is absolutely... amazing," he says after twenty minutes when you two of you are walking up to the check-out. "Grocery stores... that's.. huh."

Achilles reaches into his pocket and sets a small gold coin in the cashier's palm, smiling at her. You offer the cashier a polite smile when she gives Achilles a funny look, knowing she'd never believe that the two of you used to live during the Trojan War.

"Ah, sorry about that," you say, taking the coin back before handing the lady a twenty-dollar bill. You take the bag the cashier gives you with a thank you before walking out. You begin to walk back towards where you live, preferring to walk.

"What was that?" he's asking as soon as you're outside. "The green paper. Why is it better than gold?"
