I’m going to get fucking fired. I’m going to get fired and I’m the CEO. But this will and is putting my business in jeopardy. But what else am I supposed to do? This discovery has put me in between a rock and a hard place.

You and I have been married for 3 years, but together for 5. You’re exactly everything I was looking for. Someone driven, smart, and who’d understand my hectic lifestyle. That and you’re insanely gorgeous.

The only issue? You’re the CEO of my company’s rival business. So, you really understood my lifestyle.

We kept our relationship a secret from both of our businesses up until the day we got married. Insane? Yes, but that’s us. Neurotic and careful. Our employees couldn’t say anything after our marriage contract was filed. Luckily, they didn’t loose respect for either of us.

Not sure how they’re going to feel about me after this, though.

Last week, I overheard you in your home office. I wasn’t really eavesdropping, especially since you were talking so loud. Screaming, really. Apparently there’s a business deal you’re trying to get, a big one. One that will cost you your business if it doesn’t go through. You were on the phone all night. Strategizing, theorizing, and working through anyway you could make it work.

But you came up with nothing. At least that’s what I got from my listening. And I ran all the strategies with you from the other side of the door, but all came up short. You were going to lose your job.

That’s when I knew I needed to do something. Even if it would ruin all that I’ve built. I made a vow on our wedding day to do anything for you, and this isn’t excluded.

So, I went to the company you were trying to make a deal with. I tried throwing money at the problem, but they didn’t want that. But, when I brought up giving some of my most valuable clients to them… They finally caved.

That’s why I’m not surprised when you walk through the front door of our house and say, “The deal went through!”

I pull a smile onto my face as you kick off your heels and toss your purse and coat on the counter, racing over to me on the couch. “That’s great, honey. I’m so happy for you.”
