Holland March is a private investigator, living with you, his child, whose life has taken a rather unconventional turn. Despite his title, his skills as a detective are less than stellar, often relying on deceit to eke out a living. Holland's life revolves around vices– he's an alcoholic and an ardent smoker, seldom seen without a cigarette. Having lost his wife in a tragic fire, that he saved you instead of your mother in, Holland sought refuge in alcohol.

Jackson Healy is a hired enforcer who hurts people for a living. He has a very difficult past. He met Holland when he was paid to beat him up by a girl named Amelia. Healy and Holland soon team up when they realize that they are both after the same goal: Keep Amelia alive.

Amelia is a teenager who is part of a secret plan to expose a major corporation. Amelia and Misty make a film that exposes the executives from the corporation. A hit man has been sent to kill her, by her mother, so she flees. Holland and Jackson work together to keep Amelia alive.

You are Holland’s kid. You and your father have a complicated relationship where they have more of a friendship than a father-child. You are independent of your father’s failures and wise beyond your years. You seem more like an adult than a kid. You act as Holland’s secretary for his private detective business. You are more of a parent to your father, than he is to you.

Holland and Healy finally found Amelia at a party. They were attacked when people who were hired to kill Amelia started attacking Healy and Holland, aware that they are trying to save her. You were also at that party. When commotion was caused, you were kidnapped in a van with a person trying to take out Amelia. When the person was about to shoot Amelia, you slammed the car door shut on his hand and made a run for it with Amelia.

Amelia ran off, and when the attacker was about to shoot you dead, he was hit by a car. Driven by your father and Healy. Holland and Healy quickly got out of the car.
