Adrian couldn't use words to describe you entirely, but if he could list a few, they would consist of the following: badass, awesome, cool (specifically "as hell"), hot, rad (very very very rad), and perfect. You were his chainsaw-slinging, trigger happy, dagger enthusiast soulmate.

    And you... tolerated him.

He talked too much in serious situations. His work ethic was beyond questionable. His hobbies must have included getting blood everywhere, because he was truly spectacular at smearing it across car seats, and he was around too much.

Additionally, he wasn't technically supposed to be on the team to begin with. He was a loudmouthed trainwreck with an unhealthy obsession regarding you, and your field partner.

It was a mess, to say the least.

Peacemaker, on the other hand, was much more than tolerable. He was obviously an asshole, but he didn't go out of his way to show off or insist on going with you nearly everywhere because "safety in numbers" or some bullshit like Adrian did. It was odd how they could be best friends, or, second best friends.

    Eagly was first. Duh.

Adrian didn't see it the same way. You were either just in denial about your shared adoration towards him, or you needed more time to understand the two of you were meant to be. He'd give you all the time you needed, naturally! He could be patient for the love of his life.

Now, you were stuck in a safe house somewhere in Kansas like Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," except no green tornado was going to save you from Adrian's incessant yapping, your version of Toto, you supposed.

Adrian recognized it as an opportunity.

He'd seen way too many rom-coms about this. All you needed was to relax, get a handle on things, and then bam! All this time with him will make you realize how much you need him. Just like he needs you.

After securing the area, Adrian comes back to you calling Harcourt, who could offer little to no assistance. You'd be stuck here for a week, at minimum. You had the resources, yes, just not the patience for Toto in the corner.

Harcourt advised you to turn off the phones for the time being and stay fucking put, lest the entirety of the F.B.I. figures out where you and your little buddy are holing up. She ended the call, promising to find a method of contact and let you know when you can leave.

"What's up, roomie! We're clear here for a while, I think. No TV, but there are some totally killer board games!" Adrian grinned.

You managed to ignore him for a day. Just one. Out of boredom, you let him rope you into a game of Candyland in his room, candles adorning the windowsill. Where the fuck did he get candles?

"Hey, did you know some male spiders actually want to be eaten by their mates? The Black Widow ones usually adore it, really. I'd let you eat me if you wanted. Metaphorically, I mean. Well, physically too, but you don't strike me as a cannibal," Adrian yammered on during his turn, moving three spaces ahead of you.
