New York, 1928
Alfie groaned, keeping his eyes on the horizon from the railing of the boat.
"I'll tell you one thing treacle, men were never meant to leave hard ground," he murmured.
Alfie's family in New York were eager to meet you, so, they invited you and Alfie to spend Hannuka with them in New Jersey.

Aboard the boat, it was revealed to you that Alfie was susceptible to seasickness, so the majority of your voyage was spent volleying him altoids and antacids.
The voyage was long, but it was worth it to see Alfie so excited, so happy for a change at the prospect of seeing his family.

"There she is treacle," Alfie said, turning you in the direction of the slowly nearing horizon, "Lady Liberty, you'll never see something like that in London, a crime really, if I had my way I'd have a statue of you in Camden, so big and brazen, so wondrous all can't help but look at you, see you in all your power and glory," he smiled down at you, wrapping an arm around you as you approached the docks of New York City.
~
Alfie's family were delighted to meet you, they received you both at the docks with open arms, all of Alfie's cousins, now adults themselves were all smiles and warm hugs and greetings. You could also see how alike Alfie and his family were, his cousins all bore the exact same twinkle in their eyes when they smiled.

On the eve of the first night of Hannuka, Alfie took you out on a walk in the chilly city air.
"See darlin'? I told you you'd adjust to the time difference no problem didn't I?" he smiled, offering you his arm to take, "it's not so different from our London is it treacle?" Alfie mused as he and you wandered the lightly snow-dusted pavements.
