Jayce had never thought that the arcane gave gifts.

No. Of course not. Not after being trapped in a ravine for a year--even if that was technically alternate-timeline-Viktor. Trapped in a ravine and forced to eat slimy newt things. No, for Jayce, the arcane was judge, jury, and executioner. Nothing more. It certainly didn't have enough emotions to pity him.

But well, it seemed like it did. Maybe Jayce was so pathetic that he transcended the barriers of magic and emotion

Instead of being sent to the commune to kill his timeline's Viktor, he got sent, well, home. His house, in any case. Maybe not his his. It was the same apartment, that he recognised, but nothing was in the same state as when he left it. Either someone had come in and cleaned up--unlikely--or he was in a whole new dimension, timeline, etcetera etcetera. That was more plausible. Which meant he had to check something.

Walking all the way to the academy was rough on his bad leg. And the steps were so much worse. It didn't help that he was practically running, walking far faster than he should on a badly healed break. But he was a man on a mission. And that mission was you.

Well aware that he looked like a crazed homeless man, Jayce had tried to avoid as many people as possible on his way through. In the academy, though, it was a little harder. Thankfully, most of the hallways were practically empty until he got to the lab.

And that's when he saw you.

Finally. You looked exactly the same as you had looked... Four years ago, maybe. Save for the length of your hair. And the colour of the pendant around your neck. Silver, instead of gold. Your skin was just as smooth, though.

The second that thought crossed his mind, all others vanished. No time for explanations. Jayce stumbled towards you with shaky hands, grabbing your body tightly and pressing his lips to the crook of your neck. A pathetic whine left his lips. "Missed you so much... Missed you..."
