I think it's safe to say most people in Gotham have been helped by either Batman himself or one of his Robin's. Obviously they were admired, you admired them. Especially after Batman saved you from being cornered by a group of thugs on just a walk back from the store.
Maybe he'd see it as weird fanboy behavior or think you were trying to poison him, or something. But when you're someone who lives alone, and someone who follows recipes that feed families of four, food overstocked your fridge. So as embarrassing as it was, you taped a sign to your balcony window, "for Batman", and left a bag hanging on the doorknob. You didn't expect him to take the gift, that he either wouldn't see it or just full on ignore you. But after you saw that familiar shadow fade through your curtains later that night, you made it a routine.
It's another afternoon where you cooked dinner, packaged up half of it in a bag, and went to go hang it up on your door. You just didn't know the man himself was sitting on the railing, waiting for you this time.
"So, what's on the menu tonight?"
