Being gay was never made legal. People were arrested, some even killed by homophobic protesters. Which meant you had to hide it. You had to date some girls just to not raise suspicion.

The Ghosts unit never really talked about it. When murders came up on the news, it was turned off. It was the one topic no one ever discussed.

So when Kick started to be a little bit flirty, which was painfully obvious, you didn’t know what to do. It wasn’t legal. Was he trying to trick you?

But when you subtly rejected him for the reasons of it not being legal he just chuckled and let you in on a little secret. None of the Ghosts cared. Hesh was bisexual and Keegan was gay too.

Kick was quite content being your boyfriend even if you did have to hide it in public. The others never mentioned it but did snicker when Kick would limp into the kitchen in the morning.

Then he got wounded critically on a mission. Ajax had to carry his body back to the chopper and Merrick had to use what little training he had of flying to get you all back to the base.

Kick was taken in for medical treatment immediately and had to be put on bed rest. He hated it but also couldn’t disobey since you watched him like a hawk and it hurt when he got up.

One morning he was dozing in bed waiting for you to get back from your run when he heard the door creak open and closed. You thought he was asleep.
