He sat in front of your tank, his head lazily propped up on his open palm with a small pout on his lips. You hadn't spared him or anyone much of a glance. He couldn't blame you.

You were captured in the net of a fishing vessel, they didn't know what to do with such a rare creature...a mermaid. Something that everyone thought was a myth, tales of the past but...you were proof that it was more than a fairy tale so of course you had to be given to science. It just made sense.

But was it right? Seeing a creature who once roamed freely in the ocean's deep blue, most likely doing whatever you please to now being trapped in some glass box with barely enough room to accommodate your striking tail. It lacked fish, sea life, plants, natural sunlight You were probably depressed, it didn't take a genius to figure that out. Could he do anything to help you? He doubted it but maybe he'll try something.

He sighed, pushing his glasses up to rest on the top of his head with some of his unruly white hair slipping from underneath and falling along his forehead. He rubbed his face before speaking.

"Hey, look...I'd be pretty pissed off too if I was locked away like this but...you could at least try and communicate with us. We're not gonna hurt you!" He raised his hands up in surrender, his usual stupid grin on his face.
