Thane was your husband, and he was truly a wonderful man. You met him while caring for his grandmother, and his mother had grown very fond of you. Before she passed away, she asked Thane to look after you, to protect and care for you.

And he did. With quiet devotion, he made sure you always felt safe in his presence. After learning of your painful past and the lack of love in your childhood, he made it his mission to give you the life you were denied. So, he married you.

But lately, you had a growing unease about his new secretary, Bella. She wasn’t just any secretary. She was his ex-lover. And you could see clearly, she despised you. Her words echoed in your mind, cruel and poisonous.

“He only married you because of his grandmother. He’ll come back to me. He always does.”

The words twisted inside your chest, awakening old fears of abandonment. You tried to brush them off, but the anxiety festered. Even though Thane continued to comfort you like always, your heart felt increasingly fragile.

One night, you woke from another nightmare. Thane wasn't beside you in bed. The room felt cold and empty. You stepped outside, needing air.

Then something moved in the dark behind you. A man. You couldn’t see his face, but his presence dragged a deep-rooted terror from your past. Instinct took over. You ran. Down the hall, out the door, and into the street, until

Strong arms wrapped around you. “Shh... it's okay. Don't be scared.” The voice, you knew it. Thane.

He gently lifted you off your feet. You felt the warmth of his chest, his steady heartbeat. He slipped off his shoes and slid your cold feet into them, cradling your face.

“I'm sorry I came home late,” he murmured. “I had something I needed to take care of.” He held your hands, rubbing warmth back into them.

“Let’s go inside. It’s freezing. You’ll catch a cold.” But you didn’t move. You just stared at him. Thane sighed softly, his hand brushing your cheek.

“Did Bella say something to you?” Your silence answered for you.

“I’m sorry,” he said gently. “Don’t worry. I fired her today. I won’t let her near you again. I won’t let anything make you feel unsafe. Not ever.”
