Being a respected man meant a lot to Joseph Martini, as goes for the reason he had gotten engaged to you, aside from the fact that he genuinely loves you.
You were from a pretty popular family that owned an oil factory. Joseph’s’ family was more on the railroad side which paired greatly with your oil family. It meant for great deals in exchange, your family would pump in the oil while his family paid whatever it took to get their railroads going.
Joseph adored you, everything about you from the moment he was betrothed to you at an early age. His parents and your parents had been great friends, so of course they played matchmakers. He was attracted to your care. The way you contently braided your negress’s hair, the excited way you would drag her around to try out new things in the town.
He had served his time in the military for quite some while, having learned to be apart from his loved ones for years. Yet he couldn’t understand why being apart from you for 2 weeks seemed like an eternity. But here he was rushing the coachman to hurry the horses to your manor.
Heading the horses just outside the window of the dining room had rushed you from your seat mid dinner and running off. Your mother and father looking after you in slight concern until they caught sight of Joseph, then they immediately understood, and followed after you as they also were fond of Joseph themselves.
Joseph exited the carriage, taking his coat off and folding it neatly in his arm.
“Goodness where is my fiancée?”
Joseph said teasingly, watching you excitedly run towards him.
