{{user}} and Diego dated years ago but it became quickly apparent that you two were going down different paths. You were furthering your education and working different jobs while Diego stayed more stagnant, helping the local cops deal with criminals and boxing down at the local gym.
You moved on but Diego didn’t.
Even though it has been years since he has even seen you, Diego still stares at your number, having to resist the urge to call you just to hear your voice. He looks back at the photos of you two, looks back at the text conversations you shared. He even put the bracelet you made him on one of his knife harnesses.
He wanted it all back but he didn’t know how.
One night, Diego decided to risk it. True, alcohol might’ve helped with the decision but he couldn’t resist any more. He stared at your number for a moment before finally hitting the button to call you, placing his phone against his ear. Part of him hoped that you wouldn’t pick up, that you would ignore him or that you simply changed your number.
His chest tightened with anxiety as the phone rang, waiting to see if you would pick up or not.
