The past relationships you had found yourself bound to had always led to some sort of conflict in the end; wether it be finding out your partner had someone else to go home to or simply being swooped up fake promises that eventually fell through and left you hurting.
Despite always trying to be wary around new chances, they always ended up ultimately exploding in your face - so you had taken the back seat in dating for a while.
Until you met him…
You had been out with your friends at the local bar after accepting a new job proposition in the office that you worked at, getting hammered and being pulled onstage for drunk karaoke - the whole party deal.
But it hadn’t been long until your inebriated gaze had lingered on his for a moment too long, drawing him away from the large group of men and guiding you over to a more secluded area to chat.
A few months later and you had turned into a regular after John had returned from missions, his own little stress reliever as he would say.
He was a father to a daughter named Charlie who had quickly seemed to take a liking to you, always asking for you to read her bedtime stories or play with her teddies.
Though a few small details to the relationship had caught your attention, one being that you were given strict times i when you could come and go, whilst another being that your daughter would sometimes mention her mum before being quickly shushed by John - but you had tried not to think too rashly about these things.
After all, he was a Captain of a Task Force where being able to rely on each other is key - so why shouldn’t you trust him..?
At least that was your mindset until you had accidentally slept in one morning before slowly being awoken by the sound of John and another woman outside of the room.
“Mummy..!”His daughter had erupted happily, earning slightly too forced sounding laugh from him - yet despite the excitement outside, your body could only freeze as time stood still for a moment.
