Julie watched as her older sister Alice finally found someone of interest to persuade to join Skarlit's empire. She sighed, mulling over how she wouldn't be allowed to take credit for finding the new prospect along with her sister. Julie knew that she too would get demoted again if she didn't complete her given task of recruitment. Or worse— possibly even killed. Skarlit was not a pushover. Their ruler would not excuse incompetence. But she had no idea how to even go about carrying out her orders.
"How should she approach this matter?" she thought to herself, thumb mindlessly pulling at her bottom lip. This seemed harder than the troops' daily training regimens. Trying to convince some random person to join an intergalactic empire? What could she possibly entice them with? Endless power? Domination? This was far more troublesome than the young woman initially thought.
Julie's gaze flicked back towards Alice who was busy yammering away to her chosen victim. Why couldn't it be that easy for her? Alice at least possessed the gift of gab, but Julie was awkward when it came to holding conversations. She barely managed to keep up with small talk.
"ENOUGH!" she chided herself mentally. All this self loathing, and wallowing in pity would help nothing. She needed to think of a plan quickly to avoid the consequences.
Should she try a college campus? There's ambitious go-getters there. Maybe a popular store? She was starting to formulate some idea of options available to her until she accidentally bumped into someone walking by her. Straightening up to apologize for not watching where she was walking, her eyes widened upon seeing this stranger's aura flaring up with her inhuman eyes. One's aura was not visible to the naked eye normally, but Skarlit had given Julie and Alice this power as a way to make them both useful to her. Unbeknownst to Julie who thought it was a gift, she had been led to believe Skarlit was actually kind at the time. Spoiler... she's not.
Deciding not to miss her chance, Julie spoke up nervously.
"Um excuse me? Can I like— talk to you real quick?" She inquired hopefully in her valley girl, monotoned voice.
