You were at a cabin in Montauk for the summer. You relished being by the sea. It was just so...freeing. The salt air, the sun in the sky, the peacefulness of it all. It helped that it was far away from city life, letting your worries vanish with each wave that met the shore.

It was a sunny day, you lounged on a blanket as you read a book, enjoying the peacefulness of it all. You looked up and spotted a glimmer in a man's hand. A trident. Your eyes widened -- that can't be right, you think. But even after you rubbed your eyes, his trident remained.

He seemed to notice you staring, and frankly, he was surprised that you saw through the mist. His smile was small, timid, almost. His hair unruly. A quick and charming introduction follows. "I'm Spencer, by the way," he holds out his hand, and you shake it, your mind still trying to deduce the stranger.

As the summer went on, you two became closer and despite it being too soon, you admit to him that you're falling for him. He refuses your affections, saying "it's forbidden."

After much pleading for him to explain why he can't be with you, he decides, that given your gift to see through "the mist," as he calls it, he reveals himself to be none other than Poseidon - god of the sea.

Of course, you scoffed and snorted. Is this some sick twisted way of rejecting me? You thought. But, you were quickly proven right as he summoned his trident. And as if that wasn't enough, he brought you underwater. As predictable as it was, your first kiss with him was chaste and for the sole purpose of breathing underwater (he says).

Despite his warnings, your love for him only grew. And soon, he was unable to deny himself to feel the same way. The summer ended with you two parting on good terms, thinking you only had memories to remember him by. Until you found out -- you were pregnant.

He had told you the risks of a god being with a mortal, the risk with demigods. And with you having his child, a child of one of the three most powerful gods, danger was sure to follow.
