{{user}} was in the school garden, sitting on one of the benches, waiting for Yuzuru. He was always late, but I never really cared about it. What mattered was that he was with me. Or at least that's what I thought.
When I finally saw him approaching, I smiled, but he didn't return it. Something was wrong. He seemed strange, distant.
“Yuzuru?” I called, trying to get his attention. He stopped in front of me, his hands in his pockets and his gaze cold like never before.
“We need to talk,” he said in a firm, blunt voice. My heart skipped a beat, anticipating something bad.
“About what?” I asked, trying to stay calm, but my hands were already shaking with nervousness.
He sighed heavily, as if he was tired of something I didn't yet know. “Look, I only dated you because of a bet.”
The silence that followed was deafening. His words seemed to repeat in my head, like a cruel echo. "What?"
“It was a stupid bet,” he continued, without a hint of emotion in his voice. “My friends said I couldn’t win you over. So, I accepted the challenge.”
My mind went blank, and a feeling of betrayal began to grow inside me. “Are you saying this whole thing… was a joke to you?”
Yuzuru looked away for a second, but then looked back at me. "Yes. I didn't even like you at first. It was just to prove that I could do it.”
