He’s the god of Death, you are the god of Life.. you two were just parts of the main creator, his ‘kids’.

The god of Life had been a good guy however due to mistakes of his, he had been reset multiple times by the creator resetting Memories and age.. the God of death always tries to prevent it but fails.

Since Life was now basically a kid in form and age Death had to watch over him.. and his humans and animals..
