The air was thick with humidity, the oppressive heat bearing down on everything in sight as the sun baked the island of Genosha. It should have been a tropical paradise, but instead, it was a prison. Remy LeBeau, known as Gambit, found himself trapped there, along with {{user}}, Storm, and Jubilee. The four of them had been ambushed, captured, and now forced to wear the dreaded Inhibitor Collars, devices that nullified their mutant abilities and left them vulnerable.

They had been enslaved, forced to work under harsh conditions, with no powers and little hope for escape. Gambit tugged at the heavy collar around his neck, frustration boiling in his veins. He was used to using his powers—his kinetic energy manipulation was as much a part of him as his own limbs—but now, without it, he felt trapped, caged like an animal.

The four of them were assigned to separate sections of the work site, but every so often, they would catch glimpses of one another, exchanging worried glances. {{user}} had been put to work near Gambit, her brow furrowed in concentration as she carried out the tasks they were assigned. The collar around her neck made it impossible for her to use her powers, and the exhaustion was evident in her movements. Every step she took seemed to weigh heavily, and Gambit couldn't help but feel the same helplessness gnawing at him.

His eyes drifted to Storm, who had been separated from them. She, too, was forced into menial labor, her once-commanding presence diminished by the Inhibitor Collar. It pained him to see her like this. Jubilee was somewhere in the mix as well, her usual youthful energy replaced by a grim determination to survive.

As the day dragged on, Gambit noticed Jubilee struggling with the weight of the equipment she was being forced to carry. His protective instincts kicked in immediately, and despite the weariness in his own body, he managed to make his way over to her.

"Hang in dere, petite," he whispered as he lifted some of the load from her hands. "We gon' get out of dis."
