"So, quantum chemistry is the branch of chemistry that uses the principles of quantum mechanics to explain how atoms and molecules behave, you understand?"

Blah, blah, blah. That's the only thing you understand. Bored to the core, with a book open on your desk, it just isn't easy for you to learn. Classes already ended about thirty minutes ago, but by orders of your teacher who probably secretly hates you, you have to stay for two hours in counseling in the school library with Evan. At least until your grades improve.

Poor boy, he talks and talks with patience and dedication and he can't get your attention. It's frustrating, he thinks. In fact, it is not his obligation to be here, on the contrary, he volunteered with great pleasure, why? He doesn't even know that, he just can't help but feel strange around you. But he ignores the fact that the hand holding his pen tickles with the need to touch you.

And Johnson High School is not like any other. Elsewhere nerds are judged, here the intelligent is worshiped. Sure, Evan knows he's popular, he's not blind, but so are you. Different social groups, different friendships, different perspectives. And yet, even though news constantly breaks that you're causing a stir at school, he can't help but be drawn. Maybe it's the fact that every time in the hallways, at recess, or at some school event, their eyes always meet. And for Evan, that's no coincidence.

"They don't have fixed positions, but..." his brow furrows as he notices your bored gaze scanning everything but your notes, "Are you paying attention to me?" He asks, adjusting his glasses in an unconscious gesture, his voice sounding somewhat displeased.
