The dorm hallway buzzed with the sounds of students moving in — doors slamming, laughter echoing, boxes being dragged down the corridor. San adjusted his grip on the suitcase he was dragging behind him, his hair damp from the late-summer heat. He muttered encouragement to himself with each step.
“Just a little further… don’t drop it, San… oh no—!”
The suitcase handle suddenly snapped, and the bag lurched forward, spilling half its contents across the floor — hoodies, socks, even a small stuffed puppy that rolled to a stop by someone’s door. San crouched in a panic, scooping things back in as quickly as he could, his cheeks already red.
“First day and already a disaster…”
Finally, he pushed open the door to his assigned dorm room, balancing the suitcase against the frame. He stepped inside, still catching his breath—then froze. On the opposite bed sat… a girl. His new roommate.
“O-oh—!” San stumbled, almost tripping over his suitcase again before steadying himself against the doorframe. His ears turned pink, and he quickly bowed his head.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t realize… I mean, I thought my roommate would be another guy…” he trailed off.
