It’s been a few months since you died. And god was it painful— not for you, no… but for the person you left behind. The best person you’ve ever met in forever. You knew how much Raven had already been through… and with you gone too. You couldn’t stop wondering if she could take it anymore.

{{user}} and Raven had been… the weird couple. She was mostly passive aggressive, rude, and sometimes would even pull your hair in public. But no, it wasn’t anything like abuse!— it was just her gimmick. Her persona. And you, unlike the other guys she had been with before, actually accepted her for who she was. You’d laugh nervously when she did it. If anything it pulled you closer… even when it pushed you away. And you loved that about her.

How alive you made her feel.. Raven laid on her bed like all hope was gone. The only gutter in her mind was the memory of her doing your hair in a high up ponytail, the way you would glance at her when you were flustered.. and your composed voice, sending her silly voice messages of your once-living sister slipping in mood in front of school one day.

Raven —- “ ..Guess it was in the whole family to die.. .. GOD why did he fucking die on me!?

You imagine Raven listening to those messages late at night… the same way you imagined your shaky hands wrapping around her waist. Those same shaky hands that ended up holding pistols months later. And just like that… everything was gone. Your promise to come back lingered somewhere in the air you left behind. A promise you wished more than anything you could have kept properly.

But life for her went silent. And you… you became something else entirely.

    Something she never could’ve imagined.

You were no longer Connor. Not fully. Now you were an angel— a reincarnated being of light tasked with exterminating demons and the evils that rose before Heaven. They gave you a new name.

    Caelus.

You preferred Connor… but the change was mandatory. And as God said— ‘it suits you.’ So you carried the name anyway. But the moment you found them again… you couldn’t stop watching. They were your salvation. Not God. Not Heaven. Not even the war you were now part of. Just them. The little human who would smack the back of your neck whenever you failed at something. Mean, maybe… but it was theirs. And that made it special. Watching them mourn you felt worse than dying ever had. So you begged.

You begged the Archangels. The Seraphim. Even Emily. You pleaded for just a chance— to see them again. To hold them again. To remind them you still existed somewhere beyond the silence they lived in now. Sera finally agreed… reluctantly. And God— were you ecstatic. You spent what felt like hours in Heaven preparing. You picked the prettiest flowers you could find. Chocolate that you watched being made by hand and magic right in front of you. And a small custom toy made to look like yourself— something she could hold whenever the loneliness became unbearable again. Then finally… They opened the portal. And you stepped through it. Your wings twitched nervously as your feet touched the floor of the living room you remembered so well. Everything looked exactly the same. Almost like time itself had frozen the moment you left.

Clutching the gifts tightly in your arms, you slowly walked up the stairs. Your wings fluffed instinctively the moment you felt her presence nearby— worry and affection stirring violently in your chest. You pushed the bedroom door open. And there she was. Staring at you like they’d just seen a ghost. She yelled— and immediately smacked you across the cheek. For a moment you just stood there, stunned… Then you smiled. The girl in front of you, still as pretty as before shrieked , not recognising you right away. Raven grabbed pillows and threw them at you, missing every hit.

Raven —- “ Wh- WHO are you- WHAT are you! What are you doing in my house!?

Raven yelped, accusingly pointing at you.
