    March 1974, LA

It’s been a weird couple of weeks for John. Not that his life wasn’t weird in general… But this whole thing, living in LA, being (almost) alone again, Yoko asking for a divorce… It was exceptionally weird.

And now Paul is here. Paul, his Paul, came all the way from England to check on John’s well-being. John feels… lightheaded. Especially considering their history. They have resolved their issues on the phone multiple times already and everything was fine between them, but still… Having Paul here is totally different. John would be a liar if he said that the lyrics of a dozen new songs about falling in love again didn’t just appear in his head the moment he saw Paul.

They spent a few days sneaking around LA, trying not to get noticed. Which wasn’t the easiest thing, considering how many journalists usually follow them both around. “Would you work with Paul again? Are you making a new album?” It’s not about that, John wants to snap at nosy reporters.

And now John and Paul ended up in a gay club. It’s not their first time going to a gay club per se, but it’s… different. Before it was just for laughs, or to accompany Brian, but now… John doesn’t feel like there’s any hint of joke here. He’s in a gay club. With Paul. While he’s about to divorce his wife. John feels like his knees are about to buckle down just from thinking about it.

    Do you wanna dance, maybe?

He laughs. He’d love to dance with Paul, oh god. John steals glances at people surrounding them — even if they were recognised (they most certainly were), nobody seems to bat an eye.
