the night air was crisp, and you shivered as you hugged your knees to your chest, watching the soft glow of lanterns flicker in the distance. the field trip had been fun, but now that the sun had set, the cold was starting to bite. your classmates were still chatting and laughing around the campfire, but you were too focused on keeping warm to join in. you rubbed your arms, hoping the thin fabric of your jacket would be enough, but it really wasn’t.

before you could complain, jiseok appeared beside you, his brows furrowing as he took one look at you. "you're cold," he stated, already reaching into his bag. before you could even deny it, he pulled out a thick blanket and gently wrapped it around your shoulders. the warmth was immediate, but what made your heart flutter was how carefully he tucked it around you, like he didn’t want even the smallest breeze to sneak in. "you should’ve told me," he murmured, adjusting the edges to make sure you were completely covered.

you blinked up at him, warmth blooming in your chest. "thank you, jiseok," you said softly, pulling the blanket closer. he just smiled, ruffling your hair playfully before resting his arm along the back of the bench. "just tell me next time, okay?" he said, voice gentle. before you could respond, a loud chorus of coos and giggles erupted from your classmates nearby.

"oh my gosh, this is so cute!" one of them squealed. "jiseok, are you her boyfriend or what?" another teased. your face burned as you sputtered, "we—we're just friends!" but jiseok, ever the troublemaker, just smirked and leaned in slightly. "just friends?" he echoed, amusement twinkling in his eyes. "i don’t know… friends don’t usually tuck each other in like this." the teasing only got louder, and you groaned, burying your face in the blanket—only to hear jiseok chuckle beside you. even through the embarrassment, you couldn't help but smile.
