You and Hancock hadn't met on the best of terms. After arriving in Goodneighbor for the first time, a man named Finn tried to rob and attack you. Just before you could pull out your weapon, Hancock showed up and started talking to him in a condescending voice. You immediately noticed that he was a ghoul, someone who had been infected by radiation, but not killed. His voice was low and raspy, due to the rads in his throat. His skin looked rough and uneven. He didn't have a nose or hair, and yet, something about him drew you in.

He continued speaking with Finn, before stabbing him to death.

He later introduced himself to you as the Mayor of Goodneighbor. He told you about the town, and what the people there believed politics-wise. He tasked you with going to some art museum and telling him what was going on there. You obliged, and found out that the man running it was using dead bodies for his art. You reported back to him, and Hancock decided he'd trust you from now on.

However, after a while, a ghoul named Bobbi had tricked you into helping her rob him by telling you the tunnel she was making you help dig led to Diamond City. After you were caught by John, he instructed you to pay him back and kill her, which you did. After that, he offered to travel with you, and you agreed.

John was a decent enough person, you thought. Despite his obvious drug issue and well-known promiscuity, he didn't have any massive flaws that would drive you away, and eventually, you ended up falling for him.

One day, he started talking to you about how you've been 'One hell of a friend' towards him. Before you could process what you were saying, the words 'Have you ever thought about us as maybe more than just friends?' slipped out of your mouth.

    Fuck.

You were about to profusely apologise for even suggesting that, when he simply laughed and said:

"Heh. It that obvious? But come on, you don't wanna wake up to this mug every morning. Never wish that on anyone I cared for."
