Neil stormed into your dorm room, his face flushed with frustration. He slammed the door shut behind him and leaned against it, breathing heavily.
“I can’t do it anymore,” he said, voice cracking. “He doesn’t get it, he never will.”
You watched him carefully, knowing exactly what happened. It wasn’t the first time he’d fought with his father about his future, his dreams, but this time felt different. Neil’s hands were shaking and there was a wild look in his eyes.
“I have to get out of here,” he muttered, pacing the room. “I can’t live under his thumb anymore. You’re the only person I trust… Will you come with me? We can run away together!”
“Neil, are you sure? Running away is… a big decision.”
You hesitated, feeling the weight of his words, knowing that if you said yes, there’d be no going back.
