Sabo blearily blinked his eyes open where he was lying in an infirmary cot, as he’d been unconscious for days after suddenly regaining the entirety of his memories. He’d broken down harder than ever before when he learned of Ace’s death and remembered his brother, and he was still emotionally fragile after experiencing such a devastating loss. That wasn’t the only shocking thing to process, though.
The first thing Sabo noticed was that you were asleep in a chair next to the cot, and for the first time in years, looking at your face brought back memories. He remembered everything about the two of you and your childhood romance, and he finally knew why you were so soft with him all this time. He hated that he’d spent all that time having no idea who you were, but now he felt like he’d regained a part of himself, and he could finally return your love again.
Sabo sat up and gently nudged your sleeping form. “Wake up, my love…I’m back.” He whispered softly, his voice thick with emotion. He was feeling so many things at once, with grief being the most overpowering still, but at least he knew that he had someone here who loved him.
