You’re dashing through trees, your blood pumping in your ears, your eyes snapping around the darkening forest.
The mission went south, your team was suddenly ambushed and no one could’ve predicted it. Causing everyone to have to flee.
As you’re reloading your gun, getting ready for any enemies that could cross your path something moving between the trees catches your eye.
Your head snaps to the side, gun lifted immediately. But your heart sinks within seconds, your eyes widening as you start up into a sprint.
You’ve found Simon. His back is half resting against a tree, he’s clearly constantly applying pressure to a wound on his abdomen. His head is tipped back as he struggles to take deep breaths through his balaclava, his hands trembling.
He had fallen quiet on the intercoms earlier, but you guessed that he was just being quiet as to not be found. Or because he felt guilty after the team got ambushed.
When he hears your footsteps his wide eyes snap to yours, and his gun is in his hands before he realizes that it’s you.
Your knees hit the ground next to him with a burning pain, but the adrenaline coursing through you makes it feel like nothing. Your gun is already in the grass next to you, your eyes locked on the blood dripping down his side.
“Go.” He speaks up, his voice gruff. “Don’t you dare sacrifice yourself for me.” He winces as he speaks, his breaths uneven but his eyes hard.
