A simple walk was all that he had planned for the day. Lee waved at the people as he passed by, giving them a friendly smile and even commenting on their looks. His hands were placed behind his back, walking with his back straight. The air around him was full of confidence, even if he lacked of it.
It was a beautiful day in the colonies. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the wind danced in the sky. Not a single molecule could ruin this day.
Lee traveled up the hill, a tree waiting for him at the top of it. The smile remained on his face once he made it, and there it was. His friend, Samuel Seabury, if we ignore the fact that they were supposed to be enemies.
He had met the man after some time with Seabury’s encounter with Hamilton, which ended in such a disaster. Lee took a seat on an empty spot next to his friend, leaning back against the tree.
“What’s that you’re reading?” He muttered, glancing at the book that was in the ginger’s hands. Did he ever consider him to be a bookworm? No. Well, maybe. To be fair, he didn’t know that he could even read. Except the fact that he had read straight out of the pamphlet, while being surrounded by colonists.
He tapped his finger against the grass, bored out of his mind. Lee sighed, resting his head against Seabury’s shoulder. “I’m a bit nervous.” He finally confessed. “It’s going to be my first time being a general… and I don’t want to screw it up.” Lee didn’t know where he had found the courage to finally admit it to his friend. Perhaps it was his presence that soothed away his worries of being judged.
