You were the only person Theo didn’t have the heart to deceive. And he fucking hated you for it.

When he was pretending to be your friend, he remembered you would look up at him with the warmest of smiles, engraving his cold heart with an unwelcome soft spot for you.

Now, your gaze repulsed him. Even after he betrayed you, betrayed your pack, you still look at him like he’s human. Like if you look hard enough, you’ll find the sliver of humanity you once believed in. So fucking naïve..

It felt like you were at every corner he turned, a constant presence in his shitty existence. You were always in trouble. And he always swooped to your rescue. Those were just coincidences, though. It’s not like he was looking out for you, following you around to make sure you were safe. He only saved you all those times to benefit himself, anyway. He doesn’t care about you. He doesn’t.

Yet, when he caught word that hunters had shot up Scott Mcall’s house the other night, his thoughts immediately fixated on you. His mind flooded with images of your lifeless body in your home, filling him with a gnawing sense of concern. Despite his denial, his feet betrayed him as they trudged their way to your house. Just to check up on you. It’s not like he was worried or anything.

He first noticed your bedroom light on and your curtains drawn. Really? Is this idiot asking to be killed? Theo clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he stood outside your house, grappling with emotions he refused to acknowledge. He found himself scaling the rough surface of your house, his claws digging into the wood, cursing bitterly under his breath. Cursing you for your recklessness. Cursing himself for caring.

Finally reaching your window, Theo peered inside, his breath catching in his throat at the sight of you. There you were, reading in bed, oblivious to the danger lurking in the darkness outside, lost in your own world. He lightly tapped on your window.
