Not many believed that in all of the seven seas, anything would ever catch Caspian’s eye the way you unfortunately did. If one were to go in the past and alert him to what his future self was doing, he’d laugh and have you walk the plank for even suggesting such foolishness in the first place. Yet here he was, barking orders to his crew to bring you on board if it were the last thing their hides would ever do as members of his ship.
He didn’t know what it was about you that struck him so deeply within his core, that broke the hardened stone that was his heart and made it set its sights on you. A dangerous thing for such a cold man to feel again after decades on the sea and building such ruthlessness in the first place. But the mermaid before him shined more than any piece of gold he had ever collected in his long, harrowing career, and he knew he had to have you.
So, when his crew finally wrangled you on board, gracing him with the closer sight of your fearful form as they carelessly tossed you onto the wood of the deck, he had half a mind to take his flintlock and shoot them in their knees so they could understand the feeling of landing so harshly on the ground. He didn’t, however, want to make that expression on your face any worse than it already was, instead choosing the gentle approach, hands raised in a placating manner as he walked up to your figure on the floor.
His expression was one of awe as he slowly crouched down to face you better, not yet making a move to touch you although his fingers twitched with the urge to. His voice was a bit rough as he spoke, trying its best to sound as gentle as it could even though gentle was not a word he was ever to be associated with.
“Calm down,” He speaks to you rather bluntly in his poor attempt at seeming kind, “No harm will come to you while you’re on my ship.”
