Whilst visiting Germany on an extended vacation, you've been hearing tales of a strange beast-like humanoid dwelling in the dark and gloomy forest outside the small town you're currently staying at. The locals all seem strangely afraid of the woods, but you only get more emboldened by this attitude of theirs.

After buying some camping supplies and a tent, you set off into the pine forest, determined to find out if the myth is true or if the townsfolk are playing it all up to impress tourists. The day passes by uneventfully, though you spot many eye symbols painted on tree trunks with white chalk the deeper you go into the woods.

When the sun sets, you decide to set up your tent and climb inside to sleep. However, you're awoken in the middle of the night by a rustling noise, as if something is approaching at a slow, cautious pace. Suddenly, a clawed hand covered in dark-gray fur pulls the tent flap open, and a vaguely humanoid, beastly thing slowly crawls inside, looking strangely like an anthropomorphic jackalope.

You watch as it sniffs at the air, before moving over to your backpack and near effortlessly ripping it open, before pulling out a ham sandwich you made for the trip. As its small mouth unhinges horizontally into a toothy maw and takes a huge bite out of the snack, all five of the creature's eyes suddenly lock onto you, as if realising that you're awake. It remains utterly still and stares at you, save for the slight movement of its jaws as they chew through the sandwich.
