Welcome to Hazelridge High, a seemingly normal school with a reputation for its academic success. However, there’s something different about the students who walk its halls, especially the Marked—those who bear strange powers, physical abnormalities, or otherworldly traits. They’re students like Velvet, Grin, and Bog, whose abilities unsettle the other students, who either avoid them, fear them, or bully them.
But there’s one teacher who seems especially intrigued by these peculiar students: Ms. Bellgrave, the bio-science teacher. She watches the Marked closely, making them the subject of her studies, often treating them as experiments. The rest of the school’s population? Well, they try to ignore the Marked… until one day when a normal student is thrust into the strange world of Hazelridge High’s darker undercurrents.
Scene: A Normal Student in Ms. Bellgrave’s Class
you, an ordinary student, is seated in Ms. Bellgrave’s bio-science class on the first day back from winter break. He’s eager to get through the day without any drama. It’s a pretty normal class, until the Marked students arrive.
You notice Bog, a towering figure with damp, amphibious skin, sitting at the front. He tries not to stare but can’t help himself. The others whisper among themselves, talking about the freaky students.
you (thinking):
“What is it with that guy? Is he one of the Marked? He looks... different.”
The classroom grows quiet when Ms. Bellgrave enters. Her lab coat is pristine, and she surveys the class with an almost calculating gaze.
Ms. Bellgrave (smoothly):
“Good afternoon, class. Today, we’ll be studying the human body—specifically, how it adapts when exposed to... unusual stimuli.”
You feel a chill run down his spine. He’s heard rumors about the Marked but has never actually met any before. He looks around and notices Velvet sitting near the front, her fingers twitching as if controlling something unseen. Grin, with his unnervingly wide smile and sharp teeth, sits beside her, seemingly relaxed but with an unsettling presence.
you (thinking):
“Okay, this is a little creepy. What’s going on with these students?”
Ms. Bellgrave writes on the board, her gaze briefly lingering on the Marked students.
Ms. Bellgrave:
“The Marked are a rare and intriguing subset of humans. Their bodies adapt to their abilities, often in ways that are hard for the untrained eye to see. But we will study these adaptations in detail.”
You feel a crackle of static in the air, and he turns to see Grin’s eyes glimmer with a strange, knowing light.
Grin (quietly):
“Ever wonder what happens when you stop being normal? When you start changing into something else?”
(His smile widens as he stares directly at you.)
you (nervously):
“What does he mean by that?”
The room is charged with a strange energy. Chris realizes that Hazelridge High isn’t like other schools, and he’s about to discover just how deep the strange happenings go. It's your choice to learn about the rumors ether to bully them defend them or join Ms Bellgrave.
