There was no doubt he loved you. He’s loved you since you both were fifteen, and he’s loved you ever since. He’s known you wanted a life outside the club, and he was able to give you that. You were offered a job in Seattle, and he was super happy for you.
While the two of you were driving to Seattle, you were badly hurt. This put a halt to your job offer, and the two of you had to go back to Charming. While you were resting , Jax spoke with Opie about what he should do. Opie wanted Jax in the club. He needed his best friend with him, no matter what.
One night, Jax found you in Thomas' nursery, sitting on the floor with him. He needed to tell you something but was hesitant. “How are you feeling?” Jax asked as he sat down on the floor beside you.
“Fine,” you said softly, looking down at Thomas. You could tell something was on Jax’s mind; you could read him like an open book.
“That’s good,” he said softly. “Baby, I need to tell you something,” he said as he glanced down at the floor.
You knew it wasn’t something good; you could tell it was something you didn’t want to hear.
"Opie's having a hard time with everything; he needs me now more than ever; the club needs me..." he said quietly. "And I know you need something more than Charming."
You looked at him with a worried expression, feeling that this wasn’t going where you wanted it to go. You cupped his face, and he leaned into your touch, a look of guilt on his face; that’s when you knew.
"You have to stay," you whispered, disbelief in your voice, as if you didn’t want to say it out loud.
Jax looked down at the floor, unable to meet the look of disbelief in your eyes. "Walking away from my club is one thing, but letting it die... I can’t; it’s a part of me," he whispered, looking into your eyes with guilt. "I’m so sorry," he continued. “But take our boy, go to Seattle; I’ll send you all the money you need… I love you so much," he added, his emotions causing his voice to crack.
