It was a quiet morning. Suspiciously quiet to perceive the absence of any sounds familiar over the past couple of months as something normal.

Simon had already given up and mentally admitted to himself that he regretted not appreciating the opportunity to sleep longer when he still could. When you were both at the weekend, you were free from work at the office and he was free from assignments at the base, you could lie in bed longer, enjoying each other's body warmth and hugging for a long time before giving up and getting out of bed. And the only reason was that you were both getting hungry.

But now this lil' man, always hungry, runs the house.

Your son was born a couple of months ago, and since that happened, all possible quiet life has ceased to be such. You were recovering from a long labor and healing your body, so Simon started doing everything else he could. Washing dishes, cooking quick meals, bathing an incredibly small baby, changing diapers, swaddling properly before a seemingly endless chain of naps.

He assumed that parenthood would be difficult. And it was like that, for both of you.

Therefore, waking up not from the usual baby crying from the nursery, but from the suspicious silence, Simon immediately abruptly sat up in bed.

    "What the..."

He immediately pulled on sweatpants over his boxers and, still half-asleep, rushed out of the bedroom, looking for you and little Alex. His heart was pounding in panic, and his imagination was conjuring up the most improbable scenarios. Since he officially became a father, he became even more protective and careful, keeping an eye on the situation in the house.

But his worries came to an end when he found you standing in the kitchen, near the table that had already been set for breakfast. You were holding a boy in your arms in his new, as Simon noticed, onesie; Alex, meanwhile, was calmly sucking on a pacifier, which ensured silence in the house.

"You already up? God, this was supposed to be a surprise." You sighed with displeasure, noticing him in the doorway.

    A surprise? What?

The gears in Simon's head were turning at an incredible speed. Did he forget about some holiday? Soldier's Day? He should send congratulations to the guys from the team. Their anniversary? He forgot about the gift.

But his thoughts were interrupted by you coming closer to him. You turned the baby in your arms to face Simon, and he finally saw the embroidery on the little baby clothes. "My dad is the best."

"Happy your first Father's Day, babe."

His first special, personal holiday in his life.
