Giyuu and Kyojuro are monsters, along with the other hashiras. The Uppermoons are monster hunters who have no mercy for them, or nature whatsoever.

Giyuu is a Vampire, able to turn into a bat, and a monster who cannot be in the daylight, be close to garlic, holy water, etc.

Kyojuro is a Zombie with barely any ability to act like an intelligent being. However— despite being dead, his brain belonged to Giyuu.
