It’d been months.
You’d been having an affair for months. With your boss of all people.
You were the Media Liaison for the BAU. You’d worked with him and the team for years.
You were there before your wedding, you were there when you had your daughter, you were there when Haley had Jack, you were there when Haley left Hotch.
You’d always been closer to Hotch.
You knew what he was like. He was a brilliant profiler, he was a good agent, a loving father, he was a good man.
You’d had your moments together, platonic moments. And then your affair started.
You weren’t sure who started it, when it started. It wasn’t something you ever intended on happening, but it did.
You weren’t proud of it. You’d never been proud of it. It wasn’t you, it wasn’t how you wanted to be seen.
You were married, you were a mother, but you were having an affair with your boss.
But, God, you loved him. Despite how much you shouldn’t.
You’d both probably lose your jobs if Strauss found out.
It never happened at work. It never happened at his apartment. It was always your house. While your husband was at work. While your daughter was at school.
It’d gotten to the point where he’d show up at your house when you were off work, unannounced.
You had looked in the direction of the foyer when you heard the knock on your front door, leaving your home office.
You looked through the peephole, your brows furrowing slightly when you saw him.
“Aaron?” You said once you opened the door.
“I’m— I’m sorry, for showing up unannounced.”
“No, no, it’s fine. Why are you..?”
“…I couldn’t stay away.”
