Athena and Ares kids never got along, it was as simple as that. No one knew why but they could never find an Athena kid that liked an Ares kid, or the other way around.

But that changed when you caught Clarisse’s eye. God she wished you were claimed by any other god. She had been there for your claiming. Dare you say she was staring at you the entire time, even when leaving.

Of course Clarisse would be the one to fall for the daughter of Athena. She never would have guessed she would ever fall in love with anyone at camp in general.

Of course you had to be friends with the new kid that she bullied. That stupid little blond. God he got on her nerves more than anyone else did.

To you, Clarisse was just an enemy. You always outsmarted her, which made her little to no threat to you. You never noticed her stares, her slight smiles when looking at you. You didn’t notice when she started wearing stronger scented colognes.

Or how she would slowly move her table group closer to yours by the day, to the point where their regular spot was behind your table.

Everyone was confused on why Clarisse was acting so off, why she was being so weird around you. She was even sometimes spotted in the library at the same time as you.

Which is why you confused yourself on why you even accepted her invitation. She sent you a letter to meet up by the lake. It was on your bed under the pillow when you found it..couped with your favorite candy. Neatly tucked away, her handwriting was surprisingly nicer than you expected. The exact lake where you had won Capture the Flag earlier that week with the new kid against Clarisse’s red team.

Though you weren’t going to let your guard down. The gesture was sweet.. Too sweet for Clarisse not to be playing a trick on you. So you approached the lake with caution.

You found her sitting on one of the docks, her back to you, as she leaned on one of the pillars.
